This is a private course for BCMC members provided by Canada West Mountain School and Wilderness Medical Consultants. This Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA) course is for anyone who visits wilderness areas where hospital care is not easily accessible. Students will learn how to implement long-term care and stabilize patients until rescue is available or additional help arrives. Medical techniques covered include but are not limited to anaphylaxis, wound management, patient assessment and spine clearing exam. We offer full certification in CPR (C) with AED as part of this course.
Base course fee: $476 for members ($595 regular)
Logistics: The course will begin at 4pm on Day 1, an evening session for CPR. The following days will be full days starting at approximately 8am in North Vancouver. Expect a mixture of classroom and field sessions, and dress appropriately for the weather.
