Trip Description

Unleash your voice and creativity through the power of the spoken word!

This first of its kind workshop is to introduce BCMC members to the art of writing mountain poetry, and to provide guidance and encouragement to those who already write poetry.  Its intention is also to foster West Coast Mountaineering Poetry culture.  No experience required, all styles welcome.

Course Outline:

1)  An introduction to and a Summary of West Coast Mountaineering Poetry

2)  A discussion on how every day words and simple language can paint and evoke powerful images and emotions, and can capture stories and events.

3) On impulse, creativity and inspiration

4)  On Stanzas, line breaks, punctuation, capitalization, flow and pacing

5)  Workshopping

i.  We will all write new poems

ii. We will read our poems to each other and discuss them as a group

What to Bring:

1. A photo/photos of a mountain scene or landscape to paint with words

2. Pencil and Paper - for beginners, I highly recommend working in this way first.

This two hour workshop will be taught by master imagist poet, Chris Ludwig
