This technical crevasse rescue course is for BCMC members who want to strengthen their glacier travel & crevasse rescue skills. You will spend one day in Squamish learning advanced rescue skills and rope techniques applicable to all rope rescue systems, followed by a 2nd day in the an alpine region adjacent to Backcomb Mountain or on Mt Seymour in order to apply your rope rescue skills in an alpine environment. 

Intermediate ski/snowboard ability with backcountry skiing experience, rope-handling skills (knots, belays, use of harness etc.) is required. 

Base course Fee: $235.05 + GST (Special price for BCMC Members; CWMS Non-BCMC Fee: $275 + GST)

Possible extra cost: $62 for the lift access fee for Whistler/Blackcomb access (Subject to 2018/19 Whistler pricing)

Location: Squamish on Day 1, either Blackcomb or Seymour on Day 2

Notes:

• Cost does not include transportation to/from course areas, lift access fees (if applicable), or personal equipment except as noted
• You must supply your own ski touring or splitboard setup. If you do not have your own equipment, you can rent from MEC Vancouver or from other local mountain shops

Trip Organizer & Volunteer Instructor Incentive Program:

If you’ve volunteered your time as either:
(a) a Trip Organizer with 4 or more outdoor trips in the past 12 months, you may apply for a 25% rebate off the course fee, or
(b) Course Instructor (primary volunteer organizer) in the past 12 months, you may apply for a 50% refund off the course fee.
