Day1: Drive very early in the morning around 3-4 am to Paradise (1675 m), register and then hike to Camp Muir (3050 m). The hike will take approximately 3-5 hrs. We can either stay at the Muir hut or camp on the Muir Snow Field.
Day2: Alpine start around 2-3am. Climb normally takes about 4-6 hrs. Leaving Camp Muir, the route contours across the Cowlitz Glacier to Cathedral Gap. On the other side of Cathedral Gap, we climb onto the Ingraham Glacier and soon pass Ingraham Flat. The route contours around this glacier to the large rocky ridge to the north, the DC. Once on the ridge, we climb up to the top of the DC and then climb out onto the Emmons Glacier for the last, steep climb to the crater rim. At the crater rim, the route goes left and enters the crater on the southeast side. The true summit is still 20 minutes away to the NW.
You will need ice axe and ice tool, crampons, helmet, picket, ice screw, harness, belay device and rappel device, pulleys, carabiners, cordelette, prussiks, headlamps, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, tent, etc.
