We will attempt to ski up Mamquam Mountain in a long day trip. Expect a 30km roundtrip distance with 1900m of elevation gain. This trip is suitable for fit, experienced skiers (or splitboarders) only. I expect that it will be similar difficulty to the Spearhead or Neve traverse in a day. We will start from the Watersprite Lake trailhead (or however close to it we can get --- likely near the winter trailhead).
Map of possible route. I'd be open to any reasonable route variations. Please gather additional information about the route on your own. The crossing of Paranoid creek at 1000m elevation is likely to be challenging and hazardous. There will be some glacier travel. A short scramble might be needed to reach the summit. I have not traveled any of this route, except for last descending portion from upper Paranoid Creek, over the ridge North of Demon Peak, back to the Watersprite Lake trail.
The skiing difficulty may end up being more of a 2 or 3 than a 4, but given the uncertainty, you should be comfortable with steep skiing.
We will only attempt this trip if the weather and avalanche conditions are favorable. If we take too long to reach Darling Lake, we can cut the route short by heading South East to join the down track, making a shorter loop.
Gear required: Avalanche gear (Transceiver, Probe, Shovel), AT, tele, or splitboard Equipment, headlamp, crevasse rescue gear (harness, prussiks, carabiners, shared ropes), ice axe
Suggested carpooling cost: following https://bcmc.ca/club_driver_guidelines.php with about 150 km round trip + $10 for rough roads, gives $30 per passenger if one or two passengers, $20 if three, and $15 if four.
