This trip is open to all members, but preference will be given to those who attended the Introduction to Backcountry Skiing Pre-Trip Session on January 11th.
For all of you who attended the Intro to Backcountry Skiing Trips with Lisa Quattrocchi and friends, this is a follow up trip to Iago. We saw the peak this past weekend, weather and time permitting we can see if we can summit. There are some really nice runs on the north side, and we can decide if we want to do a loop. I have a gps track of our trail from this past weekend so we can save time on the skin up.
This is my first trip posting on BCMC, so I'll be relying on all participants to be actively involved in the planning process. Let's keep an eye on the weather, avalanche Canada, and any other resource that will help our trip be safe and successful. (Explore the Coast Mountains pg 199 under Great Bear Peak)
We'll meet at the Chevron station at Boundary Rd. (3030 Boundary Rd) at 6am, and we can decide who will drive from there. Or for those of you further east, we can meet in CHILLIWACK (Tim Hortons at 43971 Industrial Way)
The BCMC has a driver compensation guideline, which we should be following https://bcmc.ca/club_driver_guidelines.php.
We did the calculations and the fees broke as done as follows for passengers: 1 Passenger in a car, it is $50; 2 passengers in a car it is $50 dollars each passenger; 3 passengers in a car, it is $34 per passenger.
Also, whoever is considering driving shall monitor Drive BC for current road conditions.
