Intermediate-advanced day trip from Vancouver to climb Rainbow Mountain via Nineteen Mile Creek. Depending on snow conditions, we may do an extra lap above treeline.
Participants must have AST-1 or better. Participants should be fit enough to skin at a moderate pace for 8 hours. Skin up is approximately 12km and 1,700m one way. Ski down is intermediate-advanced (blue-black) terrain with lots of trees and variable snow.
Bring standard day trip gear (food, clothes layers, skis, skins, boots, poles). If you have ski crampons, bring them in case it's frozen solid in the trees. If you don't have ski crampons, don't worry about it.
As always, avie gear is required (beacon, shovel, probe) and a headlamp. Please check batteries in headlamp and avalanche beacon.
Semi-alpine start...we'll meet at 5:30am at St Davids and hopefully be skinning up during sunrise.
And finally, as per BCMC trip guidelines, bring $10-15 cash to pay for gas (or be prepared to interact e-transfer). Drivers will be decided at St David's.
