A quick intermediate-level backcountry trip to Iago/Big Bear. We'll plan to ski a few laps of the Iago North Bowl, which is fairly low angle. If we have time, and avy are acceptable, we'll circle around to Big Bear and drop north-east down the ridge into the bowl between Iago and Big Bear. These are north facing runs, so the snow tends to be pretty good.
Anyone attending needs to have AST1, plus shovel, probe and transceiver. Headlamps are a must as the trip back from Big Bear can sometimes have open streams and be time consuming.
This is suitable for intermediate level skiers. Iago is not a hard trip, but adding Big Bear means this shouldn't be your first trip.
