6AM, St David's (Hwy 1 and Taylor Way) West Vancouver
So it's snowing today. A lot. It may not improve conditions through the forest, so there may be a lot of walking and some crappy skinning. The whole trip could be a complete bust. But if you want to get out this weekend anyway...
Plan is to ski up Mt Sproatt via the Rainbow Lake Trail that runs along Twentyone Mile Creek. Baldwin describes pleasant subalpine and alpine terrain. Navigation looks straightforward, but I've never been there before. Turn left at the first major drainage. How hard can that be? But for all I know we could end up sending all day looking for creek crossing points only to realize that we're in the wrong drainage. Forecast for this weekend calls for moderate snow this weekend, which may mean fog, low cloud cover and crappy visibility. Or it could be epic Skiing. Still interested?
