Trip Description

Build your toolkit of mountain skills with our 2-day mountain weather and navigation course. In this course, you will learn to interpret modern weather forecasting tools, recognize changing hazards in the field, navigate with a map and compass, and build a travel and safety plan for diverse alpine terrain regardless of conditions and visibility. This course will also cover whiteout navigation and contingency planning, essential skills for backcountry skiers, mountaineers, and alpine hikers.

This course will be taught by Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures. The first day will be in the classroom in Whistler, while the second day will be in the field in Squamish. See the full course description here: https://www.mountainskillsacademy.com/courses/mountain-navigation-whistler-squamish/

Students are expected to bring a laptop or tablet, compass with adjustable declination and a mirror, Rite in the Rain notebook and pencil, and clothing appropriate for being outside both days.
