Despite recent heavy weather I thought it might be fun to go and try Crown Mountain. Tuesday looks to have a nice warm day with clear weather.
Chances are it will be snowy, and a little heady so be prepared for some heavy weather hiking. This route is 9.2km and 950m elevation gain. Counting for wet conditions this should be a 8 hour day.
We'll meet at Lonsdale Quay, and make our way to the Gondola Base. Depending on stoke and energy we'll either hike up, or take the Gondola. We will be taking the Gondola down.
We'll take the route from the Grouse Mt Chalet following the ridges. The route is slabby, and is likely to be wet and snowy with the recent weather. Participants will be going expecting these conditions. We will probably end up needing to use crampons. Everyone should have at least some experience walking in crampons.
