This comprehensive glacier and rescue course is a must for mountaineers and alpine climbers traveling on glaciers. Participants will learn critical glacier travel safety skills, geomorphology, and the essential skills for rescuing both roped and un-roped victims from a crevasse including arresting a roped fall, building an anchor while holding a victim, transferring the load, descending, and hauling. Some basic mountaineering skills (e.g., self arrest) are an asset, as is a good level of fitness. This is the perfect opportunity to get ready for the upcoming summer mountaineering season!
This course is taught by Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures by a professional ACMG certified guide.
