Trip Description

Let's go climb Mt. Rainier! Here's the plan:

Tuesday June 20: Leave Vancouver midday and drive to a campground (TBD) near the Paradise area of Mt. Rainier.

Wednesday June 21: Hike to Camp Muir.

Thursday June 22: Summit attempt via Disappointment Cleaver Route, and return to Camp Muir.

Friday June 23: Hike out and drive back to Vancouver.

Note that due to weather we may wait an extra day or two at Camp Muir, so be prepared to return on Saturday or Sunday! This trip will be contingent on good weather and low avy risk, and a summit attempt will only be considered if the conditions are deemed safe by all members of the party. June can bring very cold and dangerous conditions on Mt. Rainier so everyone is expected to be prepared for winter weather.

All participants are expected to have crevasse rescue training, glacier travel experience, avalanche training to at least AST1, and significant mountaineering experience.

Everyone is expected to supply their own equipment, I'll bring a GPS and PLB/Sat Messenger but it would be great to get at least one more of each for the party. Once we have a group approved for the trip we can get into the nitty gritty details. Please look into the route on your own as everyone will be expected to contribute to the safety/success of the trip!
