Expect full days of climbing. It will work better if there is an even number and people are paired and have objectives in mind before we leave. Each pair will have all climbing gear including rope and protection, a guide book or print out, and a list of areas and climbs they would like to visit. There are good guide books available, covering only Leavenworth or the whole of Washington. Also, information is available on line at mountainproject and other sites.
All participants must bring their personal climbing gear, including harness, belay device, locking biner, climbing shoes, and helmet. The club supplies NO equipment for climbing trips. Also note... while the more experienced climbers are usually happy to share their knowledge, this is not a climbing course and is not suitable for complete beginners.
All participants must be able to safely belay and preferably have some experience leading. Everyone will be encouraged to lead.
We'll plan to meet at 6:00am in Vancouver probably around Burrard Street on Tuesday 6th June. It is a 4 to 5 hour drive to Leavenworth which will allow us to climb on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until around 3:00pm, before heading back to Vancouver. If you need a ride to the meeting place or for the trip, please post a request in this trip's planning forum. We'll aim to arrive back in Vancouver late on Thursday evening 8th June.
The usual place to stay is 8 mile campground in Icicle creek. Everyone will require full camping gear including sleeping bag, mat. Tents, stoves etc may be shared.
NOTE, WE WILL BE CROSSING THE BORDER SO EVERYONE MUST HAVE UP TO DATE AND VALID DOCUMENTATION FOR ENTERING THE USA. Do not bring any fresh fruit or vegetables to the border, Leavenworth is well served with supermarkets and restaurants. Cash to pay for camping, gas etc is necessary.
If not sure if this is the trip for you please email me.
