Spring Climb of Mt Harvey
via the North Facing Ramp

One day ascent to the summit of Mt. Harvey via its North facing ramp. Our descent plan will include down-climbing the same route be to hike down the standard route.

Trip will be dependent upon viable conditions and stable snowpack.

Pace will be moderate throughout the day... so "speedy climbers" may find our pace too slow.  Expected car-to-car duration: 10 hrs, +/– 2hrs.

Expect VERY steep snow with small patches of alpine ice... between 45-60 degrees.  Participants must have experience climbing an alpine route rated AD or greater.

Approach via Lions Bay and logging roads in Magnesia Creek drainage. We'll use neither snowshoes nor skis.

Welcome "extra" gear: GPS with tracks, PLB, Camera, spare Lithium batteries,... plus chocolate, cheese, and other yummy snacks.  One of the organizers plans to bring a GPS with tracks; map and compass; and a Personal Locator Beacon.

Recommended carpooling cost:  ~$5; please arrange with driver; bring funds.

Medical Info:  any info that should be shared with the organizer(s), please send an email and/or phone ASAP.  For example, if you are very allergic to bee/wasp bites, or you are taking medication that could be vital information to First Aid Responders.  Anything you choose to share will remain private.

Cancellation:  We'll check the weather forecast for where we're going the evening before we meet.  If the weather forecast does NOT appear to be adequate for a safe outing then the trip will be cancelled and everyone will be notified by email.
