Intermediate and expert friendly trip skiing big trees on the east side of Sproatt Mountain. The route roughly follows the Lord of the Squirrels mountain bike trail. Approach is from Function Junction via the Flank Trail. We will not likely be going to the summit. Rather we will concentrate on tree skiing below the subalpine zone. Slope angle will not likely exceed 35 degrees. The trees are generally open. There may be a short band of tight second growth trees above the approach road. The approach trail and logging road should present no problem on the descent based on the forecast snowfall this week but be prepared for trail and logging road skiing which can present its own set of challenges due to the narrow width.
Vehicle travel is only on paved and plowed roads. Please bring companion rescue equipment such as beacon, shovel and probe. Based on the trip objective it is highly unlikely they are required.
