It takes about a day to skin out to the Burton Hut on Sphinx Bay in Giribaldi Provincial Park and about a day to ski back out. So the trip only makes sense if you've got 3 or 4 free days, so this Easter, while everyone else is doing to Spearhead or the Garibaldi Neve you could explore the peaks around Sphinx Bay.
The plan is to skin out to Burton Hut on Friday morning and spend. Spend Saturday and Sunday exploring the area around Burton Hut. Ski out on Monday.
I haven't been here before, but would like to check it out. There are a few possible objectives in the area: Guard Mountain, Deception Peak, and the Sphinx. You do need a backcountry permit (https://secure.camis.com/DiscoverCamping/) and you'll need to fork over the $5 per day hut fee to the VOC (http://www.ubc-voc.com/wiki/Burton_Hut).
You need your beacon, shovel and prove. You'll need AST-1. You'll need a overnight gear, food for 4 days and 3 nights.
