Destination changed to Mt Laughington.
It's 10km and 1300m elevation gain from the usual parking spot to the peak. If it snows a lot overnight, we may not be able to drive along Foley Creek FSR and have to park on Chilliwack Lake Road instead. That would add 4 flat km.
Flora Peak is immediately north of Chilliwack Lake. The trailhead is just inside Chilliwack Park. The trail starts at fairly low elevation, so we may need to carry skis briefly, but hopefully not. Here's a webcam very close to the trailhead. It's only 5km to the peak, but with 1300m elevation gain.
People new to touring are welcome to join. The most challenging part of the trip is likely to be descending the lower portion of the trail through the forest with marginal snow coverage.
Gear required: Avalanche gear (Transceiver, Probe, Shovel), AT, tele, or splitboard Equipment, Headlamp suitable for skiing.
Welcome additional gear: GPS, PLB, camera, first aid kit.
Recommended carpooling cost: approx. $15 per passenger; please arrange with driver; bring funds.
