I've climbed there twice this year and it's an excellent place for newer ice climbers. It's very "beginner-friendly" with reasonably easy access to set up top-ropes. I'd like everyone to be at the Cal-Cheak turn-off at 7:30am. I'll drive down and park at the pull out for the climbing area soon after 7:30am so please don't be late if you don't know where to park.
I'll bring rope and ice tools. You need to bring your helmet, harness, belay device, boots, crampons. Also bring a couple of pairs of warm gloves, and maybe some disposal (or reusable?) hand-warmer packs if you have them... if your hands get cold easily.
I'll be driving from Whistler. Those in the Vancouver area will meet at St David's Church parking lot, near Hwy #1 and Taylor Way, at 6:15am to carpool. We can all meet up at the turn off for Cal-Cheak FSR at 7:30am.
Note: Rescheduled from January 13th. New date is January 20th.
