The temperatures are finally going down :) so there will finally be some real powder out there!

Thursday looks lovely and sunny on Baker, right after a series of snow falls that should bring great snow. There are no avalanche forecasts yet, and there will be a fair amount of new snow, so please do your research on the current conditions, snowpack, etc and bring your knowledge and experience to assess conditions as a group. 

Plan is to drive as high as we can on the road to Skyline Divide (there might be some snow on the road by then, with the much cooler temperatures, so we might not be able to drive all the way to the parking lot). Then skin or hike the trail depending on snow amount, then ski along the ridge. What we will ski will depend on our evaluation and I plan to use a conservative approach.

If the forecast is correct, it will be really amazing. If the forecast totally changes between now and then, this trip might change or get cancelled.

If this is your first trip of the season, make sure you test your beacon, batteries, bindings, skins, etc before coming.

We also need decent vehicles to get up there, so the destination might change if we do not have capable enough vehicles. The number of people who can join also depends on this.

I posted a very early start and It will be tough to get up that early, but with the recent time change, daylight ends very early now... so I think it is worth it.

***** What to bring:

- Beacon, shovel, probe
- Passport or your document to to enter the US
- Headlamp: I do not plan on coming back at night, but days are short these days
- Clothes to stay in the snow the whole day
- Extra clothes in case we get in an emergency or have to spend the night out (obviously, this is not the plan either :) )
- Food and water
- A little first aid kit
- Stoke for the first real powder turns of the season!!!!
