Trip Description

We will be approaching via Joffre Lakes and the Stonecrop Glacier.

Participants must bring backcountry ski gear, avi gear, and headlamps (w spare batteries). Crampons are recommended for the top section which is often wind blasted and icy. Ski crampons are also a good idea on this type of trip. It may be rescheduled for Sunday if the forecast for Saturday is poor. That decision will be made early Friday evening. Check back here to confirm.

No one leaves until everyone is out.

Please note: This trip involves high angle skiing to 40 degrees so participants must be experienced backcountry skiers comfortable with steep slopes. The backup will be Tzsil if the conditions on the Stonecrop glacier are unfavourable. This is a fast paced day trip requiring a high level of fitness and is not suitable as a first trip with the club. You must be able to independently navigate in the mountains. I have posted a GPS track of our planned route.
