8am, Dennett Bluff (east of Port Coquitlam)
Course Objectives:
This is a 1-day course covering simple 3:1 and complex 5:1 haul systems for assisting and rescuing climbing partners. The course will focus on the application of the haul systems, gear, effectiveness, safety, and other considerations. The day will consist of discussions, demonstrations, and practice. Be prepared for a long full day.
Prerequisites:
You will be required to complete pre-course homework: details and instructions will be provided in the Planning Forum. The homework will consist of a review of knots and building of several pulley systems. This will need to be done at least three days prior to the course. You will be required to submit confirmation of completion of homework to the organizer; failure to do so may result in your course registration being cancelling and your fee refunded. The homework is intended to make your field day more focused and productive.
