Construction of the New Watersprite Lake Trail continues with a grubbing assault on the Watersprite Skookum Spur and a boulder ballet in a small rock slide on the new trail.
Work begins at the 4.2 KM mark (the waterfall). We will begin by grubbing a footbed with hand tools from the creek until the short boulder field. At the boulder field, will we move several behemoth rocks using rock bars and cumalongs to create an easy passage. A sporting and entertaining display sure to amuse the whole family!
This trip will be the fifth in a series of trail clearing and construction trips dedicated to the New Watersprite Lake Trail, which will be used to access the club's new cabin. We might also choose to perform some minor improvements to the existing trail on the way up. The work zone is the blue shaded rectangle on the map below.
Come join us and help make this worthy project come to life and get grubbing and lopping!
We DO NOT anticipate using power tools on this trip. Furthermore, section 57 authorization has been granted for this project.
I have provided two GPX files for this trip (download them using the links on the bottom left of the page). The first is the GPX file for the new trail and the second is GPX driving directions to the trailhead from Squamish.
*Those interested and available to work Friday and Saturday (overnight) are welcome and encouraged to accompany David Scanlon*
