This course is for BCMC members looking to take  Alpine climbing skills to the next level! You will spend 4 days in a low-ratio group learning and challenging yourself in alpine terrain.  Course will be held Aug 26 - Aug 29, 2016.

For climbers with previous mountaineering background who want to challenge themselves and improve their skills for bigger alpine climbing routes. The full 4 days will be spent in the mountains climbing in alpine and glaciated terrain.

Note:  This is a special last minute deal.  We have 3 participants, there is room for one more at a special rate.  It's also being posted on ACC, priority will be given to BCMC members on first come first served basis, pending screening and confirmation of appropriate experience.

Course Objective and Itinerary:  The emphasis of the Canada West Mountain School Intermediate Mountaineering program is to help participants develop and refine their technical alpine climbing skills. Much time will be spent practicing and refining skills such as technical rope systems, alpine anchor construction, crevasse rescue and movement skills on steep snow and 4th/5th class rock. Each course will include multiple summit attempts in order to allow participants to apply skills in a real setting.

Typical locations include the Joffre Range; the Spearhead Range; and, occasionally we will arrange to fly into the Tantalus Range above Squamish, BC (Flight costs are extra with this option).

Pre-Requisites: Previous mountaineering training and experience and good physical fitness. Previous outdoor rock climbing experience and basic rope management skills, should be comfortable top-rope climbing 5.8.
