My bias is finding some steep safe lines. The Spearhead, Decker, Trorey are options. See Baldwin's book. Final destination will depend on group and conditions, which promise to be on the warm side with an alpine high of 16 degrees and freezing level of 3,900 m for Saturday. Access via Blackcomb lifts which officially open at 10 but they usually let you on around 9:30 AM. If you don't have a lift pass, a backcountry pass is $56 or a regular day pass is now only $69. For the backcountry pass, you need to sign waivers and show Guest Relations your beacon, shovel, probe, skins -- all of which you must have anyway. Be prepared to ski inbounds in the unlikely event Guest Relations deems backcountry travel unsafe and closes it Saturday morning. We may have to bootpack down from just below mid-station where the snow runs out, unless we are there by download closing time around 4 PM. Bring bathing suit/towel for refreshing dip in Lost Lake at end of day.
