The Squamish special is a customized 2 day course hosted by the Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures (MSAA) that combines two of their most popular rock courses: Intro to Outdoor Rock Climbing and Intro to Trad Climbing. This course provides a great foundation to tackle the classic routes in Squamish!

Topics Covered:

- Climbing safety and hazard management
- Movement skills
- Rock climbing terminology
- Belaying and rappelling
- Anchor building & cleaning
- Trad placement and removal
- Simulated/mock leads

Rock Climbing Equipment Provided by MSAA:

- Rock shoes, harness, helmet, belay device, locking carabinet, chalk bag
- Rope, anchor building equipment, trad equipment

If you have your own equipment and wish to practice with it, please let MSAA know

Personal Clothing and Gear:

Weather conditions are constantly changing. Plan ahead, and dress accordingly.
- climbing pants, t-shirt, mid-layer fleece or wool top
- waterproof shell jacket
- down or synthetic insulating jacket and pants
- warm hat, light gloves
- sunglasses and sunscreen
- approach shoes
- day pack 25-35L
- food and water

MSAA is offering a special price to BCMC members of $250 for 2 days. The course is taught by a certified ACMG instructor/guide at a 1:6 ratio, with climbing equipment and rentals included.

This trip requires a minimum of 6 participants to run. If more than 6 sign up, we will aim to have groups of 6 (i.e., 6, 12, 24) confirmed so that we can get the special discounted price.
