Out of shape after a winter of excess and lethargy? Too much girth around the mid-section?
Then this trip is for you! Work begins less than 100 meters from the parking lot.
This trip will be the first in a series of trail clearing and construction trips dedicated to the New Watersprite Lake Trail, which will be used to access the club's new cabin. This installment (Round 1) involves a number of odds and sods marked on the on the map below.
1. (Red pin) scrub out a path through the gravel rubble field with shovels (Binkert Shovels)
2. (Green pin) light alder clearing and drainage improvement on the logging road with shovels
3. Flag, sign and light brushing of existing connector trail.
Remove annoying mound of dirt at 1.5 KM mark with shovels and pick-axes.
4. Heavy alder clearing of old infested "S Line" (South).
As the first 1.8 KM was completely cleared of heavy alder last year, this year's work will be lighter going until the S Line.
Come join us and help make this worthy project come to life!
The club will re-emburse the cost of fuel for chainsaw and brush cutter operators. Furthermore, section 57 authorization has been granted for this project.
I have provided two GPX files for this trip (download them using the links on the bottom left of the page). The first are the driving directions to the trailhead from Squamish, and the second is the GPX file for the trail itself.
