Although this is scheduled as a day trip, it will involve an overnight car camp. We'll drive down to Paradise Friday evening and car camp there. This is a mixed backcountry ski and mountaineering trip. We'll ski up to Camp Muir, and then climb from there to the summit via the Ingraham Direct route. Expected round trip travel time is 14 hours.
You must have done a trip with me before to qualify for this trip.
It must be a bluebird day or it will be rescheduled. Fallback dates are May 8, 14, and 15.
Depending on the groups strength and inclination we may attempt St Helens on Sunday in which case we would drive there on Saturday evening.
Required gear:
Skis, skins, poles, boots
Beacon, shovel, probe
Rope (for each group of 2), harness, ice axe, crampons (that fit on ski boots), prussiks
I've compiled a list of the lightweight gear I use on these types of trips here.
