Will Stanhope was born in 1986 in Toronto Ontario. Will’s family promptly moved back to British Columbia when he was young. His first climbing experiences occurred at the Edge Climbing Centre at the age of 8 with his father and best friend Brad. Soon, young Will began to beg older climbers for rides up the Sea to Sky Highway to climb at Squamish. In his teens, Will climbed a great deal with Dave Nykrforuk and Jason Kruk. The three pushed each other hard and had a blast climbing together as a trio. Since graduating high school, Will has climbed all over the world, and has spent a great deal of time in both Yosemite and Patagonia. Recently, he has been most enthralled with big wall and free climbing. This past year Will completed a four-year alpine project: the Tom Egan Memorial Route, 5.14, on the East Face of Snowpatch Spire (Bugaboos), with Matt Segal.
