Change of plans due to climbing and weather conditions. A warm front came in on Saturday night, raising temps far above freezing. Saturday, we ice climbed at Chapel Pond, near Keene, NY. Then drove south for warm rock climbing in the Shawangunks. Ice and Rock in one weekend!

Ice climbing, mostly multi-pitch leading, in New Hampshire. Difficulty in the WI3 to WI5 range. Some top-roping, if the opportunity arises.

Participants must have or rent (prior to trip) their own harnesses, HELMETS, ice/mountain boots, crampons, technical ice tools and winter clothing. We'll have two ropes and a set of 12 ice screws. If you have ropes, ice screws, etc. please plan on bringing them, so we can get a couple of parties going.

We'll be meeting in North Conway late Friday night (which motel to be confirmed). Over-nighting Friday night and Saturday night in North Conway. Climbing on Saturday and Sunday. I'll be driving down from Montreal on Friday night if anyone wants to carpool. There may be a car coming up from New York City as well. Driving home to Canada late Sunday.

We'll be focusing on the Frankenstein ice climbing area, north of town, which has easy access down an old railway grade, and a large variety of single and multi-pitch ice climbs to tackle. We may also consider some of the ice climbs on Cathedral Ledge (right in town!), if they are in good, generous condition.
