Everybody is busy for Christmas Eve and finding people to tour in Whistler failed. So I am settling for something closer to town and a shorter day.
Plan is to go for some turns in that fresh powder in the Red Heather Medows (Baldwin page 53). I expect to stay in the trees at low elevation with the current avalanche conditions, but we can see in the morning depending on how much new snow fell and we might have a peak on Paul Ridge if conditions are suitable. Tree skiing just above the Red Heather hut will be great anyway. We can stop for food and snacks in the hut.
If people need to get back to town early for their Christmas Eve diners, we can make it a short day.
ALL participants MUST have the following equipment:
Beacon, Probe & Shovel
AST-1 or higher training
AT/telemark ski or splitboard setup (including skins)
Headlamp
Appropriate clothing for being out in the elements all day
Enough food and water to remain on the move for most of the day
