Trip Description

Ama Dablam (6,854m) is often referred to as 'The most beautiful mountain' and 'The Matterhorn of the Himalaya'. It's an impressive and intimidating peak on the way to Everest Base Camp and involves technical mixed climbing at high altitude.

I'm organizing an expedition to climb this spectacular mountain in the fall climbing season (October/November). I'm looking for a team of up to 4-6 people to join me. This is not limited to BCMC members but priority will be given to BCMC members. If you know suitable people who would be interested, please pass this info along.

I'm also organising a trek to Everest Base Camp to run alongside the Ama Dablam climb. See my other EBC trip for more info.

I have a friend, Namgya Sherpa, who owns his own guiding company in Nepal, and will be our head guide on the climb. He's amazing.... not many people get to flash this line in their email signature (which he does, by the way): '11 Times to Top of the world Mt. Everest & 24 times on top of Mt. Vinson in Antarctica'

... It will be 12 times up Everest in April.

Details for Ama Dablam:

- Basic Trip cost: $5,620 USD per person, based on 4 climbers. If we have a larger group then prices may come down. Equally, if there's only 2 of us then prices may go up. This does not include International flights to Kathmandu (around $1,200 CAD), insurance, personal spending, rented gear, Nepal visa, meals in Kathmandu, and tips for guides and porters. See the attached Trip Costs for more info.

- You MUST be confident climbing rock, snow and ice routes at AD grade. Rock to around 5.8
- You MUST be in excellent physical and mental condition.
- You MUST have experience ascending/descending fixed ropes. It's likely that ropes will have been fixed most of the way to the summit.
- You SHOULD have some high altitude experience. E.g. Aconcagua, Logan, Denali, Mera Peak, Island Peak etc.
- Ideally you have been to Nepal before and you know the score.
- You love the cold, you live for sleepless nights in a freezing tent perched precariously on a ledge listening to the wind howl knowing you have to get up at 2am and spend another 12 breathless, exhausting hours climbing in the most beautiful place on the planet.
- Type 2.5 fun is your thing.

I've attached some files containing the trip Itinerary, trip notes and costs. Please read them before signing up!
Note that all prices are in USD. You need to do the conversions to CAD

If you're interested

Do some research, work out if this is for you, then please send me an email to johngill2527@gmail.com. All applicants must contact me to introduce themselves before signing up otherwise you won't be accepted! I need to ensure we have a strong and safe team. Please state your climbing ability, recent climbs, highest altitude to date etc. I'll then send over as much information as I can. Once we have some confirmed members I'll organize some practice climbs.

Thanks!
John
