8am St Davids Church, Hwy 1 & Taylor Way
Prerequisites: only join this trip if you have your own "Trad" climbing gear (including rope), have previous crack climbing experience, have good belay skills for Top-Rope and Lead climbers, and generally have fun on moderate climbing routes.
Meeting Time: we'll meet at 8:00 am at St. David's Church parking lot at Hwy 1 and Taylor Way, West Vancouver. If you need a ride to the church, please post a request in this trip's planning forum. We'll plan our day to arrive back in Vancouver before 7:00 pm.
Cost Sharing: please bring $10 for your driver to help with cost sharing for carpooling, thank you :-)
Basic Gear: all participants must bring their personal climbing gear... including: harness, belay device, locking biner, climbing shoes, and (very important!) helmet. Also highly recommended is a prussic for rappelling, a PAS (personal anchor system) for securing yourself, plenty of water and energy snacks.
Shared Gear: ropes & anchor material for this event are provided by participants and not by the club. If you have a full strength climbing rope and anchor material, please do bring it.
Knowledge: while the more experienced climbers are usually happy to share their knowledge, this is not a climbing course. Every participant must be able to safely belay and is expected to have *at least* some top roping experience (indoors and/or outdoors).
Emergency Info: please make sure your Emergency Contact info has been added to your BCMC account. You can do this by logging into bcmc.ca then click on: My Account (top of page)... then click on Edit Emergency Contact (top-left column). Re-enter your password to complete the process. Your emergency contact info will be stored *privately* and only be available to those organizing events that *you* join online.
Medical Issues: any info that should be shared with the organizer(s), please send an email and/or phone ASAP. For example, if you are very allergic to bee/wasp bites, or you are taking medication that could be vital information to First Aid Responders. Anything you choose to share with me will remain private.
Cancellation: check the weather forecast for where we're going on the morning of the trip (I prefer wunderground.com). If the forecast is 40% PoP or less then usually we'll go.
