Trip Description

The plan will be to spend the day at the Seal Cove Wall, south of Murrin Park, where there are several moderate slab routes to climb... including some 5.9 and 5.10b mostly bolted routes... a few are mixed with some gear placement (no pure "trad" routes).  There will be opportunities for both leading and top-roping... depending on skill levels.  Leaders will be expected to use their own rope ;-)

We'll meet at 8:00 am at St. David's Church parking lot at Hwy 1 and Taylor Way, West Vancouver. If you need a ride to the church, please post a request in this trip's planning forum.  We'll plan our day to arrive back in Vancouver before 7:00 pm.  Also please bring $10 for your driver to help with cost sharing for carpooling, thank you :-)

All participants must bring their personal climbing gear... including: harness, belay device, locking biner, climbing shoes, and (very important!) helmet. Also highly recommended is a prussic for rappelling, a PAS (personal anchor system) for securing yourself, plenty of water and energy snacks.

Ropes & anchor material for this event are provided by participants and not by the club. If you have a full strength climbing rope and anchor material, please do bring it.

While the more experienced climbers are usually happy to share their knowledge, this is not a climbing course. Every participant must be able to safely belay and is expected to have *at least* some top roping experience (indoors and/or outdoors).

EMERGENCY INFO:  please make sure your Emergency Contact info has been added to your BCMC account.  You can do this by logging into bcmc.ca then click on: My Account (top of page)... then click on Edit Emergency Contact (top-left column).  Re-enter your password to complete the process.  Your emergency contact info will be stored *privately* and only be available to those organizing events that *you* join online.

MEDICAL ISSUES:  any info that should be shared with the organizer(s), please send an email and/or phone ASAP.  For example, if you are very allergic to bee/wasp bites, or you are taking medication that could be vital information to First Aid Responders.  Anything you choose to share with me will remain private.

CANCELLATION:  check the weather forecast for where we're going on the morning of the trip (I prefer wunderground.com). If the forecast is 40% PoP or less then usually we'll go.
