Trip Description

Hi folks!

My seasonal work finishes on friday the 26th and I have the next two months off!! Woohoo!

To celebrate, I'd like to organize a group for Smith Rock climbing on the weekend (and into the next week). My plan is to drive down friday night (8-10 hour drive so please be prepared). Climb saturday, sunday, and as long into the weekday as my driver/passengers want to stay! I would like to stay for a week? I've got time! Our length of stay is determined by your availability. I will put people with similar schedules together for rides, so they can get back on time. The people who can stay longer are welcome to do so.

My climbing plans: (I love multipitching)

"Monkey face" 6 pitch 5.8 (trad or sport variant)

"Wherever I May Roam" 5 pitch 5.9 sport

"Spiderman" 3 pitch 5.7 trad

"The Marsupials Traverse" 8 pitch 5.8 trad

"Zebra Zion" 4 pitch 10a trad (maybe)

(whatever else looks good in the book, they can also be found online at http://www.summitpost.org/smith-rock-crags/184038  )

Tell me if you want to join me for these multipitches. We can have multiple teams, though I would like no more than 2 teams of 2 on each multipitch. We can split up and do them if there is enough interest. Share beta at night!

Of course while I'm away on multipitch, you are free to jump on single pitch sport/trad climbs. I will designate someone with experience to keep an eye on the less experienced people. Communication might be an issue since there are long distance roaming charges for phone calls, we will make timed meeting spots and back up plans if things don't go as planned. I am inclined to save money and just camp. Others are welcome to stay in the motels or house shares in the area. Last time I went I stayed in a house that we rented. We paid ~80 each for two nights. Having a shower after a long days climb may well be worth the money. I will post a Google doc for driving, climbing, and camping plans later once there's enough interest.

some things to keep in mind or bring:

Climbing gear (needs not being said)

Bring your passport!

Visa issues?

Health care insurance (we're not covered in the states)

Communication and long distance calls

Please answer the questions I have put up
