The Battle to conquer Paranoid Creek and the Mighty Alder of Mamquam Mountain rages on.
Mamquam Mountain has indeed proven to be a formidable foe. Her truly horrifying defenses of Red Alder and Raging Creeks continue to put on a fierce fight to the bitter end.
This trip will be the Sixth (and better well be the final installment of phase 1) of this year's ongoing B.C.M.C. effort to tame Mamquam Mountain by constructing a quality trail to Darling Lake. The purpose of this trip is as follows:
1) Clear the final 200 meters of the alder infested old S2 logging spur. This road sports some of the most horrifying Red Alder imaginable.
2) Construct a short 75 meter trail to Paranoid Creek
3) Assess the Creek for future Bridge Construction
Work begins at the current end of the trail (see the Red tack on the map bellow) and will follow the S2 Road until the Yellow Tack. A short trail will then be constructed from the end of the Road to Paranoid Creek (the Blue tack on the map).
Work begins after an easy 2.2 KM / 45 minute hike from the parking area near the dam. The road to the dam is permanently maintained, but 4x4/awd is preferred.
Phase 2 will involve construction of a foot bridge over Paranoid Creek.
Come join us and help make this worthy project come to life (and to help us have our final and deserved revenge on some of this planet's worst alder).
