Hello fellow climbers!

We have a few dates setup for the 2 day rock rescue course this year: June 13/14, July 18/19, and August 14/15.

This course is offered to the BCMC through Canada West Mountain School at the discounted price of:

$220 (including GST)-- Regular Price $288.75

Signup is based on a first come first serve basis.  Members who sign up first will be given first opportunity to pay for the course, and if payment is not received by the cutoff date (Sunday May 21), their spot will be given to the next climbers in line.  This course is for Members only.

I. Course Topics
The course is geared towards climbers interested in learning rock rescue for a multi-pitch setting, and the following topics will be covered:

• Planning, communication, and rescue decision making
• Rope ascending using Prussiks
• Escaping a loaded belay (either from above or below)
• Building and using a Z-Pulley system
• Methods for lowering an injured climber
• Tandem rappelling with an injured climber

Potentially more topics based on climbers experience

II. Required Gear

 Required gear is as follows:

• Harness
• Helmet
• Rock shoes
• Belay device
• One 5mx7mm cordelette
• One 1.5mx7mm cordelette
• Chalk bag
• 2L of water
• Lunch
• Backpack
• Sun/rain gear depending on the day

Optional:

• Double length sling
• Extra carabiners (locking and nonlocking)

III. Registration
Priority is based on a first come first serve basis.  Once you have signed up, you will be moved onto the "wait list".  Once on the "wait list", please pay the $220 online via the paypal link to secure your spot in the course.  The payment deadline will be June 21.  

IV. Travel Itinerary
The plan will be to meet at St. Davids Church at 7:00AM, and depart no later than 7:10AM.  We will then meet the guide at the Squamish Adventure Centre at 8:00AM to meet Canada West Guide.  If you will be coming from either Squamish or Whistler, feel free to meet the group in Squamish (but please indicate in answers).

V. Trip Organizer and Volunteer Instructor Incentive Program: if you have volunteered your time as either...   
a) Trip Organizer with 4 or more outdoor trips in the past 12 months, you may apply for a 25% rebate off the course fee ($55), or
b) Course Instructor (primary volunteer organizer) in the past 12 months, you may apply for a 50% refund of the course fee ($110)
