Hello BCMC members,

Alison McMillan, with help from others, is organizing a fundraiser event to help those dealing with the massive earthquake and aftershocks in Nepal that recently devastated many lives.  She is inviting local mountaineering and hiking clubs to get together as an outdoor loving community to help those suffering in Nepal with much needed donations that will be used for shelter, clean water, basic supplies and First Aid *before* the monsoon season begins. 

The fundraiser event is this coming Wednesday May 6^th from 4:30 to 8pm at the Steel Toad Brewery, which is located at 97 East 2^nd Ave. Vancouver, BC (http://steeltoad.ca).  There will be pricing specials, for those donating a minimum $10 at the door, that include $5 beer & wine and $11 for beer/wine & pizza.  There will also be a raffle table with an assortment of donated items, games with prizes, and other fun ways to learn and donate while connecting with old and new friends. 

Alison's goal is to collect $10,000 in the next few weeks and the Canadian government will then DOUBLE the donations she's collected, but only until May 25^th.  Are you in?  Discuss it with your favourite hiking and/or climbing friends and RSVP for this event ASAP at: http://on.fb.me/1IvSa8f
