A meetup at the Church in west van on the saturday morning will then see us driving to the Keith's Hut parking area on Hwy 99, times to be determined. Ski or snowshoe to the vantage/matier col, where conditions will be assessed. A camp near the hut or in another convenient location will be set up. The following morning an early start will have the group approach and climb the ridge, and attempt to summit Matier, followed by the descent and return to town late that evening. 

The following is a list of mandatory items:

-Glacier travel skills and equipment 
-Personal safety items
-Avalanche beacon/probe/shovel and knowledge of how to use them
-Winter climbing/mountaineering experience

This trip will only proceed if avalanche conditions are assessed as "considerable" or lower (avalanche.ca) and the weather looks favourable. Decisions will be made on the mountain as to whether to proceed or not based on observations. I recommend bringing skis, as there's good skiing terrain if the conditions don't look ideal for climbing.
