Trip Description

A 2 day course on basic ice climbing safety and technique.  There is a cost of $75 for this course, payable to the Club.  The course is lead by Jeremy Thom, a BCMC member.  This course is for people with little or no ice climbing experience, to those up to a novice/ intermediate level.

Please Note: The dates for this course are subject to minor changes, due to the instructor's professional commitments, up until two weeks before the scheduled start date.

We will most likely be based in Lillooet (depending on conditions) so hotel, meals, and transportation will be extra .

No previous ice climbing experience required, but you must know how to belay competently.  You don't need ice tools but do need a helmet, harness, belay device, suitable boots, and crampons with front points and, preferably, secondary points.

A more finalized gear list will be added shortly.

Should you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact me at rsimzer @ gmail dot com.

On-line Registration process: once you register online, your name is automatically placed on the "Request List" for the organizer to process. Once the Organizer approves your registration, your name is placed on the "Waiting List" until your payment has been received either by cheque or PayPal/Credit Card (see below).  After payment has been received, your name will be placed on the "Confirmed List" and a confirmation email will be sent.  IMPORTANT: only those that have been placed on the Confirmed List may attend.

PaymentPayPal/Credit Card payment is preferred and can be made through the BCMC website (click on the "Pay Now" button on the course description page -- You must be logged in on the website and your name must be on the "Waiting List" for the button to be visible on the course page). Alternatively, cheques should be made payable to British Columbia Mountaineering Club and mailed to PO Box 2674, Vancouver, BC V6B 3W8; Important Note: you MUST make arrangements with the organizer to keep a seat open for you while your cheque is in transit or your seat may be taken by someone else.
