Trip Description

Leave Vancouver Wednesday morning, and return Saturday afternoon. See page 99 of the Baldwin Guide or here: http://www.ubc-voc.com/wiki/Powder-Cap_Traverse for more information.

There is a possibility that this trip will be moved later by one or two days depending on weather.

Participants must have AST 1 or equivalent, beacon, shovel, and probe. Participants must also have suitable winter camping experience.

ALL participants MUST have the following equipment:

Beacon, Probe & Shovel

AST-1 or higher training

AT/telemark ski or splitboard setup (including skins)

Headlamp

Appropriate clothing for being out in the elements all day

Enough food and water to remain on the move for four days.

Winter camping gear (although likely shared between the group).

(trip organizer will carry the following items: first aid kit, GPS/Compass/Map)

This will involve a long four days, with the potential for some objective dangers. Trip will only "go" with a decent weather forecast (POP of 30% or less) and acceptable avi danger.

Please consider NOT seeking to join this trip unless you have conducted your own research into the route, and compared that with your own experience, fitness level and skill.

Please update your BCMC Account Profile with your emergency contact information. To do that you have to login on the website, click the "My account" button at top right, then click on "edit profile information", then select the "private information" tab and enter your emergency contact information -- this info will stay in your profile and is made available to a trip organizer automatically -- it saves time at the meeting point.

N.B. If you have previously "bailed" less than a day before the start of, or been a "no show" for, one of the trip organizer's previous trips, you need not apply to join this one - you will not get a response.

If the CAC bulletin is "high" or greater, this trip will be postponed.

It's going to be icy. Ski crampons, boot crampons, and an ice axe are probably good ideas.
