Hello fellow climbers!

I'm looking to set up a 1 day Rock Rescue course  led by an ACMG guide based out of Squamish on Saturday, July 19. The price for the course will be $75/person.  Like the Trad and Multi-Pitch course, we will require a minimum of 4 people, otherwise the course will be cancelled.  If more people sign up, we can look at having additional groups attend.  If you are unable to make it on this day but are interested in another date, please feel free to contact me and I can look at setting up an additional course.

Signup is based on a first come first serve basis.  Members who sign up first will be given first opportunity to pay for the course, and if payment is not received by the cutoff date (Sunday July 13), their spot will be given to the next climbers in line.  BCMC members are given priority for the course.

I. Course Topics
The course is geared towards climbers interested in learning rock rescue for a multi-pitch setting, and the following topics will be covered:

• Planning, communication, and rescue decision making
• Rope ascending using Prussiks
• Escaping a loaded belay (either from above or below)
• Building and using a Z-Pulley system
• Methods for lowering an injured climber
• Tandem rappelling with an injured climber

Potentially more topics based on climbers experience

II. Required Gear

 Required gear is as follows:

• Harness
• Helmet
• Rock shoes
• Belay device
• One 5mx7mm cordelette
• One 1.5mx7mm cordelette
• Chalk bag
• 2L of water
• Lunch
• Backpack
• Sun/rain gear depending on the day

Optional:

• Double length sling
• Extra carabiners (locking and nonlocking)

III. Registration
Priority is based on a first come first serve basis.  Once you have signed up, you will be moved onto the "wait list".  Once on the "wait list", please pay the $75 online via the paypal link to secure your spot in the course.  The payment deadline will be Monday July 14.  If we only have 3 interested members we can either choose to each pay $100, or cancel the course. 

IV. Travel Itinerary
The plan will be to meet at St. Davids Church at 7:00AM, and depart no later than 7:10AM.  We will then meet the guide at the Squamish Adventure Centre at 8:00AM to review ACMG waiver and discuss day plans.  If you will be coming from either Squamish or Whistler, feel free to meet the group in Squamish (but please indicate in answers).
