**Great response to the course so far! I'll work on getting an additional guide so we can have 2 groups of 4 attend (hence why the participant limit has now increased to 8 people). If we are unable to get 8 people signed up, we will have to stick with the original plan and have a 4 person group. **
Hello fellow climbers!
I've set up a couple of rock climbing courses with an ACMG Guide from Squamish in July: an introduction to Trad Climbing, and an introduction to Multi-Pitch Climbing (on the 5th and 12th respectively). The courses will cost $75/person per course, and capped at a maximum of 4 people per instructor. I have the cap currently set to 4 people; however, if there is enough interest we can have a second group. Each course is run separately, so if you are interested in both please sign up for both days. BCMC members have priority.
I. Experience Requirements
This course is geared towards climbers with lead climbing experience, ideally outdoors. Anchor-building abilities are also recommended.
II. Required Gear
Ropes and gear will be supplied by the instructor; however, it's recommended to bring your own Trad gear so you can have experience placing it. Required gear is as follows:
Optional:
III. Registration
Once registration opens, participants will be screened to ensure basic safety levels are met. If you are moved to the "wait" list, please pay online to secure your spot in the course. The payment deadline will be Friday June 27. If we only have 3 interested members we can either choose to each pay $100, or cancel the course.
IV. Travel Itinerary
The plan will be to meet at St. Davids Church at 7:00AM, and depart no later than 7:10AM. We will then meet the guide at the Squamish Adventure Centre at 8:00AM. If you will be coming from either Squamish or Whistler, feel free to meet us in Squamish.
I'm happy to drive 3 other people and will be leaving from the Cambie and Broadway area. If you are unable to make it up to St. Davids church, I'm happy to pick you up somewhere downtown (please indicate in the screening answers).
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me either by phone or by email (604 441 one-four-five-three or rsimzer at gmail dot com). Also, if you are interested in seeing other courses offered, please contact me and I would be happy to set them up.
I look forward to climbing with you!
Rob
