This trip is designed for first-time rock climbers. It'll be run like an instructional course, but a little more informal and a little more focused on fun. It's the perfect opportunity for those who have always wanted to learn how to rock climb, or who aren't sure whether the sport is right for them. 

Topics covered will include: 
- in intro to the different pieces of gear (and what to look for when you're buying)
- belaying and lowering for top-rope
- basic tips for climbing
- how to fall (and not be scared!)

Beyond that, we'll just spend the day practicing our skills and having fun!

Required gear:
- climbing harness
- rock climbing shoes
- belay device and locking carabiner
- helmet 
- chalk and bag (optional but recommended)
- clothing you can move in
- clothing to keep you warm, dry, cool, or whatever the weather presents for us
- water and a delicious lunch

If you don't have the climbing gear, I'd recommend buying from MEC. If you find you don't like a particular piece, or that you don't even like rock climbing, you can return it. If you love it, then you'll have everything you need for the next trip!

Location TBD, but almost certainly somewhere in Squamish. This trip will only run in dry conditions.
