The ACC has recently cleared the trail to Marriott Basin and the Wendy Thompson Hut. 

We made an attempt to get into that area for some turns on Sunday, Nov. 10, but were stopped by pretty thin snow in the trees, and the lure of hotsprings and beer. With the new snow on the Duffey this week, and cold temperatures from now until the end of the week, I think we are in good shape for a nice weekend of touring, although there may be significant portions of the trail after the logging road that will have to be boot packed.

The plan is to camp near the WT hut on Saturday evening, but if there is sufficient interest, we can look into staying at the hut. At the time of writing, no one has reserved the hut.

ALL participants MUST have the following equipment:

Beacon, Probe & Shovel

AST-1 or higher training

AT/telemark ski or splitboard setup (including skins)

Headlamp

Appropriate clothing for being out in the elements all day

Enough food and water to remain on the move for most of the day

Suitable winter camping equipment and the experience to use it.

(trip organizer will carry the following items: first aid kit, GPS/Compass/Map)

This will involve a long day, with the potential for some objective dangers. Trip will only "go" with a decent weather forecast (POP of 30% or less).

Please consider NOT seeking to join this trip unless you have conducted your own research into the route, and compared that with your own experience, fitness level and skill.
