Trip Description

Anchoring Intermediate - Ice

Ground level and top down anchoring skills from simple to complex.  One full day.  Very early departure.  Location to be determined by local ice conditions.

Minimum 8 participants needed to proceed.

Minimum Equipment

  • Harness
  • Helmet
  • Suitable clothing for the weather (potentially all day in the rain)
  • Webbing (1” or 9/16”)( min 6m)
  • Cord  (7 or 8mm) (min 6m)
  • Non-lock biners (min 10)
  • Locking biners (min 4, more recommended)
  • 1 Rope (>30M length, 7 – 11mm diameter)
  • Belay/Rappel device (for small diameter ropes)
  • Available sewn slings
  • Ice Screws x 2 (ideally more, a range of lengths)
  • Ice Tools x 2
  • Crampons (for vertical ice)
  • full chank boots

Prerequisites

  • Anchoring Basics and all equipment listed
  • At least one year of climbing experience
