Advanced Avalanche Safety Training-2 (40 hours)
the course offered in partnership with Canada West Moutnain School

Please note, that the registration deadline (by email) is November 30.

This course is suitable for skiers and boarders wanting to progress to more in-depth evaluation of terrain, snowpack weather and decision making. It will give you tools to make your own decisions in the backcountry and is highly recommended for all active winter backcountry users.

The Advanced AST-2 courses is conducted using a variety of different terrain locations - typically Whistler, Vancouver/Mt Seymour and/or a backcountry location off teh Duffey Lake Rd.

The Advanced AST-2 course includes:

  • 40 hours of instruction by CAA Professional members
  • CAA approved curriculum for AST-2 course
  • Avalanche manual
  • Use of beacon, shovel and probe
  • CAA Industry-recognized Certificate of completion

Cost : $495 per person + GST based on a group of 5. If more than 5 people (up to 8 max) sign up, the price per person can drop to as low as $420 per person (compare to regular CWMS price for this course of $575!)  

* All courses held at locations other than Vancouver/Mt. Seymour may have additional costs associated with travel and classrooms.

** Cost does not include transportation to/from course areas; lift access fees (if applicable); food; accommodation; or, personal equipment except as noted.
