Trip Description

Presentation: A twenty day trek in October 2012 by Geoffrey Mumford and two friends, a guide and two porters on the original Everest Base camp route starting from Jiri instead of taking a plane to Lukla.  Passed through traditional Sherpa villages to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bzaaar.  Visited the ancient Tengboche monastery and later reached the Khumbu Glacier, site of the rudimentary South Base Camp, where climbers begin the ascent of Everest's southeast ridge.   A side trip up Kala Pattar offered views of the summit of Everest and surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Everyone is welcome... visitors, members and guests.  The meeting will take place at the Vancouver ANZA Club main floor (corner of 8th Ave and Ontario) on Tuesday September 10th, 2013. The entrance door opens shortly after 7pm and the meeting begins at 7:30pm.
