Are there ice climbers in Vancouver? Really? But where would you ice climb near Vancouver? Does it even matter... why would anyone want to ice climb anyway? Isn’t cold, hard, and waaaay too dangerous?
Come and find out… If you live in the Vancouver area it’s hard to be a dedicated ice climber. But with sufficient motivation (and a fast car?), acres of ice are accessible. Francis St-Pierre and Lee Purvis provide an entertaining account of how they got into ice climbing, and how they beat the crowds at some cool climbing areas ‘near’ Vancouver. You will also enjoy a brief tour of the Mecca of ice climbing: the Canadian Rockies, home to several world-famous ice classic routes such as Polar Circus, the Weeping Wall, The Sorcerer but also blessed with a multitude of moderate climbs. Join us for a cozy look at adventure in a world of vertical ice!!!
Everyone is welcome... visitors, members and guests. The meeting will take place at the Vancouver ANZA Club main floor (corner of 8th Ave and Ontario) on Tuesday November 12th. The entrance door opens shortly after 7pm and the meeting begins at 7:30pm.
