Trip Description

The main objective of the trip will by Mt. Waddington via the Kiwi Route (Route 180 in The Waddington Guide, D+, 50 degrees, 5.7, 1000m) or the Bravo Glacier Route depending on conditions.  The secondary objective (weather permitting) will be the Kshatrya route on Combatant (Route 227, D+, 5.8, 735m).  We plan to set up a high camp at the Waddington-Combatant col at approximately 3000m.  The Kiwi Route is the most direct route on Waddington from the col.  The col also provides excellent access to the southwestern face of Combatant.  We are a party of two and would like to have a party of three or four (ideally four) for this trip.  We are unable to leave before Monday August 12.  We would leave for Bluff Lake very early on the 12th.  Bluff Lake is approximately 10 hours from Vancouver.  We have reserved with Mike King and White Saddle Air Services for the 12th.  White Saddle has a new helicopter that can take four with gear.  Mike is able to land at the col if weather permits, but we may be forced to land lower down.  The return trip will cost approximately $850 with four or $1,100 with three.  Flying out on Monday August 19th would provide six possible climbing days.  Weather may prevent us from flying out so schedules will need to be flexible for the return trip.  Please read the "Questions for Participants" in the side bar, conduct your own review of the proposed routes, and consider your own abilities and experience before contacting the organizer.
